Anyway, it was really neat. Both my parents and Jason's parents were there. My Aunt Nancy and grandparents were there too. Jason's sister Carly came, and my brother and his girlfriend attended as well. (Just writing this for my record). It was really neat, because we know Dusty pretty well, the pastor who dedicated Sam, and he shared the scripture about Hannah's prayer for a child, and how God heard this prayer and blessed her with a child, Samuel. Which is where we got the name, Samuel, which means, "asked of God" or "God heard." The whole service was really beautiful, and Sam did really well.
I gave the camera to Jason's mom to take some pictures and the video camera to my dad...ummmm, big mistake. I tried to replay the video tonight...and apparently he pushed pause when we were up and pause again when the other 2 families were having their babies dedicated. So the video says, "And next we have the Dunn's..." and that's it. CUT. I about cried. I called my mom to vent, but told her not to tell my dad. I just don't want him to feel bad. I know he couldn't see the camera w/o his glasses, and he'd feel HORRIBLE if he knew that happened. (Not too worried about him reading this...I don't think he knows I have a blog. :) ) Anyway...I need to remember to be thankful that Jason and I are together, and that we have a healthy beautiful baby boy. An answer to prayer. And we have some good pictures...Jason's sister even took some and already had them developed and got them to us! Woo hoo! Anyway, maybe I'll post those later. I'm going to call the church tomorrow and see if they possibly taped the entire service...fingers crossed!
Afterwards we went to my mom's for dinner. Everyone came, and it was a treat. Sam got sweet cards, and a check from Grandma Mary! I want to take a picture of it, because the check is written to directly to him...his first real check! :) And my mom got him a giraffe. She made roast and mashed potatoes and corn and green beans and salad and my grandma made this AWESOME oatmeal and pecan cake and Carly made some cute cupcakes and raspberry cheesecake bars. (again...all for my record). I was so thankful that everyone was able to come together, even when it was super snowy and windy out. Oh, and Tuffy, my parents' dog, ate a container of sour cream. Ew.
The bummer was that Jason was sick all day. He has a horrible cold and is in a fog. Ah well. It's funny how media portrays Valentine's Day with a dark, tall European man giving a woman diamonds in front of the Eiffel Tower at midnight, when in reality, I'm doing 5 loads of laundry, changing a poopy diaper, pureeing organic peas for baby food, having bean soup leftovers, and getting another hot pack for my husband's face...all on Valentine's Day.
But that's okay, because I wouldn't have it any other way. It really truly was a great day.

We chose to have Jack baptized and for us, people kept saying, "you mean, dedicated?" Nope. We don't.
My mother-in-law still won't say Jack was baptized . . . and she continues to refer to it as his dedication.
Oy vey.
